Research activities have been amply patronized by the college since grant of autonomy. Commerce department has produced 15 M.Phils and 2 Ph.Ds, Computer Science department 14 M.Phils, Electronics 5 M.Phils, Management department 4 M.Phils, English department and Tamil department 5 M.Phils.  During the current year (2008-2009) eight faculties have submitted proposals to UGC for grant of funds to execute Major projects and three for minor projects.  The departments are also patronized to host Seminars/ Symposia and Workshops involving experts in academic fields.

           The curriculum has been designed to accommodate mini projects for students in order to orient them with aptitude for research skills.  A grant of Rs.5000 was received form Tamilnadu State Council for Science and Technology on ‘Students Project Scheme’ for the year 2007-2008 for a project done by M. Prem Kumar, PG student under the guidance of Mrs. S. Angeline Esther Preethi, Lecturer, Foods and Nutrition department.

          A grant of Rs.5000/- each for 20 selected meritorious students have been awarded by UGC (Feb, 2009) as project grant in order to promote a research culture among the students.

          Altogether 24 teaching faculties are currently pursuing their Ph.D programmes and 17 are doing M.Phil courses as on 02.02.2009.  On the students front 18 students are pursuing Ph.D programme and 51 students are doing M.Phil programme.
